Job summary

We have a permanent vacancy for two band 7 HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to join the St George's Genomics Service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinical scientist with Genomics experience to join our friendly and sociable team. Individuals nearing completion of their registration as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC will also be considered for this role at (band 6). You should have a good practical and scientific understanding of genomics with particular experience in NGS analysis and variant interpretation of rare disease genes/disorders. Additionally you should have excellent organisational ability, attention to detail, and be able to demonstrate an ability to work in a team. The position will be based in the genomics section of the laboratory and training will be available as required. The laboratory is committed to supporting flexible working patterns and continuing professional development. Main duties of the job

The lab functions as part of the South East Genomics Laboratory Hub delivering core genomics services across the SW London region. The UKAS accredited genomics service offers a range of genomic variant interpretation and reporting services primarily based on NGS technologies including the nationally commissioned whole genome sequencing service. These services are provided as a fully paperless 'dry lab' analysing wet work data provided by external sources. The team works closely with our co-located clinical genetics team and the other laboratories within the SE GLH network. The lab works alongside a major NIPT service and a dedicated informatics team specialised in genomic support applications. The service is ISO15189:2012 accredited and participates in national and international External Quality Assessment Schemes. Flexible working arrangements may be available.
