Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Biomedical Support Worker who is able to work with laboratory equipment and processes across the Blood Sciences disciplines. This includes; Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Central Pathology Reception and theEmergency Department Laboratory (ED hot lab).The laboratory within the Emergency Department provides a faster turnaround time for blood results for a certain panel of haematological and biochemical investigations.
Whilst full training will be provided, you will need to have proven experience of working in a diagnostic pathology department and have knowledge across a range of laboratory procedures. The successful candidates will be expected to participate in the 24hr shift system after suitable training. Continuous professional development (CPD) will be encouraged.

South West London Pathology is an award winning pathology partnership between three leading Hospital Trusts - St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Croydon Health Services NHS Trust - designed to provide an integrated, high quality pathology service for hospitals and GPs across South West London, by bringing together the best of each Trust's service and providing them within a single organisation.
The Role:
Clinical Blood Sciences (CBS)The St. George's University Hospital Hub operates a 24hr shift system providing cover to a busy A&E and acute services. The Laboratories are equipped with Roche c8000 analysers with P612 pre/post analytics automation for Biochemistry, and ACL Top 550, Beckmann Coulter DxH 900 with AutoMate 1200 for pre/post analytics Haematology and coagulation services, as well as Immucor for automated Blood Transfusion services.
We handle the GP and OPD work from the Spoke sites in addition to all the samples within its own catchment area. As a result the department has an approximate workload of 8000-9000 tests per day.
