Job summary

The London Kidney Network Patient Partnership and Engagement Lead will play a pivotal role in ensuring lived experience of those affected by kidney disease is at the heart of the LKN's strategy and delivery.

Main duties of the job

It will provide a culture of patient centred involvement that supports the delivery of the Network's objectives to improve quality, outcomes and experience through:

  • Shareddecision making and the premise that "no decision about me, without me" is at the centre of the LKN's improvement and transformation work. This includes supporting ICS teams to embed this principle and focus in local renal transformation pilots.
  • Excellent communication to garner collaboration between people affected by kidney disease, clinicians and other key stakeholders, including high level NHS managers. This will foster understanding of the rationale for improvement which puts patient experience and outcomes at its core.
  • Prioritising health equity and diversity inclusion so that under-represented groups are included in all our work. This may include taking novel and innovative approaches, working in close collaboration with e.g. community faith groups to elicit meaningful involvement.

About us

London Kidney Network is improving population health through:

  • Quality and outcomes
  • Health equity and patient experience
  • Value and cost effectiveness

It is the largest of eight fomally mandated kidney networks in England. Set up as part of the Renal Services Transformation Programme, we support the national NHSE Renal "Transform" CRG and implementation of the 100 Renal Medicine GIRFT recommendations at London regional and local ICB level. We work collaboratively with the six London and Surrey Integrated Care Systems and the region's seven renal units.

The core purpose of the LKN is to define what good looks like; highlight variation; develop strategy and support delivery of improvement.
