Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist - Permanent rotational post and fixed term rotational post opportunities.
St George's University Hospital Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, full-time occupational therapist to work as a band 6 within our acute and rehabilitation services. This post is a permanent contract, and it offers the opportunity to be part of a friendly, dynamic, and forward-thinking teaching Trust. St George's therapists work in specialist multidisciplinary therapy services that have a strong focus on patient experience and continual improvement.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dedicated occupational therapist who is motivated and keen to develop their clinical specialist knowledge and skills. The post is part of a rotation. This includes, Senior Health, STAR (Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit Team), Hand Therapy, Ortho-Geriatrics, Oncology, Acute Medicine and Trauma and Orthopaedics. As a band 6 occupational therapist you will benefit from peer support and supervision programmes as well as access to multi-professional clinical specialists in a range of clinical areas.
You will have opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills and knowledge. You will also be encouraged to be involved in service development, research, and audit, and supervise both students and junior staff, developing your teaching and leadership skills. The multidisciplinary therapy team provides a high-quality therapy service over 7 days. You will be required to participate in a weekend rota aligned to your clinical area which involves working a weekend shift once approximately every 6 weeks with compensatory rest days.

- Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HPC Registration
- Continued Professional Development including evidence of reflective practice, and clinical experience gained

- Fieldwork educators course

- 18 months post-qualification Occupational Therapy clinical experience, at least a year of which must have been in an acute setting.
- 1 year's previous NHS experience either as a qualified Occupational Therapist (substantive or locum) or as an undergraduate Occupational Therapy Student.
- Working as part of a MDT team within a clinical environment.
- Delegation to support staff.
- Experience of general assessment and intervention with patients in a physical setting (e.g. medical, surgical, trauma and orthopaedics and neurology patients).
