Job summary

Health and Wellbeing is a fundamental part of the Personalised Care Agenda. At St Georges our ambition is to ensure all our patients have equal access to a health and wellbeing package. To support our patients and their carers from the point of diagnosis to the end of treatment and beyond. The post holder would be expected to develop the existing service further, encourage cancer patients to self-manage their care where possible and improve quality of life for people living with and beyond cancer. The Cancer services wellbeing lead will be responsible for the development of delivering wellbeing activities and programs for people affected by cancer as well as deputise for Macmillan information centre manager, manage a small group of Macmillan support workers and volunteers.

Main duties of the job

  • To develop health and wellbeing activities that are evidence based, follow best clinic practise, supported by clinicians, involve service users in their development and are inclusive to all.
  • To collaboratively with Macmillan Information and Support Centre and ensure effective links between centre activity and Cancer Services Wellbeing Portfolio.
  • Deputise for Macmillan information centre manager providing cross cover.
  • To support the Cancer services existing Pre-hablitation programs.
  • To work in collaboration with other health professionals and with local and national organisations to develop and deliver health and wellbeing events and activities.
  • To develop patient educational initiatives linking the hospital, community and charitable sectors.
  • To work closely with the Lead Cancer Nurse and Personalise Care Lead CNS to support with the delivery of the personalised care agenda.
  • Support the development of the Trust survivorship program in terms of health and wellbeing support.
  • To deliver Health and Wellbeing events though different medias including Virtual, Face to Face and the potential of a mixed module.
  • To develop and scope with the cancer management team Saint Georges Hospital(SGH) vision for tackling inequalities within cancer services.
  • To maintain deliver a Health and Wellbeing virtual platform for SGH cancer patients.
