Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to cover a maternity leave post at St Georges Hospital and work within our ketogenic dietetic team for 1 year. There is also opportunity for part-time/job share depending on applicants.You will provide Ketogenic diets to children with drug resistant epilepsy and GLUT1, as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate a high level of expertise within this specialist area.
The successful candidate will need to have significant experience in paediatric dietetics. At a minimum they should have a good understanding of the ketogenic diet and have suitable transferable skills to enable them to undertake this role.
Main duties of the job
You will be working alongside two other part time B7 Ketogenic Dietitians and a Ketogenic dietetic assistant. We have a large paediatric team which covers various in and outpatient areas including Paediatric Intensive Care, Neurology, neurosurgery, Neonatal (level 3), General medical and surgical units, oncology, allergy, gastroenterology and diabetes. Depending on experience and need there is opportunities to cover and upskill in these other areas.
You will have a significant in-depth level of understanding across paediatric disease groups acquired through experience within the specialism and continuing post graduate training and study. You will work within the multidisciplinary team and demonstrate expertise within this specialist area. You will play a key role in the nutritional management of this patientgroup, and will provide highly specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals. In addition, you will be actively involved in the trusts clinical governance programme by taking lead responsibility for ensuring continuing professional development, audit and research activities within this specialist area. You will follow evidence-based practice. You will be an active multidisciplinary team member and educator; to develop nutrition policies and guidelines; lead on and participate in audit and research related to your specialist area in order to improve health outcomes and develop the role and service
