Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Nurse Endoscopist to join our high performing endoscopy team. You will have at least 3 years' post-JAG certification experience and will be able to function autonomously in both upper and lower GI endoscopy, managing all aspects of the patient pathway including prescribing appropriately for your patient case load.

Main duties of the job

St George's endoscopy has an established history in providing exceptional patient-centred care and is a tertiary referral centre for EMR/ESD, ERCP, EUS and EBUS and bariatrics. In addition, we provide

  • Bowel cancer screening services to the south west of London in conjunction with the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
  • Basic skills and advanced endoscopy training courses in conjunction with JAG and the National Endoscopy Training Programme

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take the lead in expanding endoscopy training to our satellite sites and develop advanced skills in a chosen specialist area, for example, advanced polypectomy/EMR, emergency/urgent endoscopy, or endoscopy-related research.

About us

As an 8b Senior Nurse Endoscopist, you will work autonomously across our 3 endoscopy sites within the Trust, ensuring adequate list provision to meet the growing demand for endoscopy. You will be an active member of the leadership team, managing the nurse Endoscopist workforce and operational components of the service.

  • oRN Level 1, current NMC Registration
  • oMaster's degree or working towards a Master's degree or equivalent knowledge and experience acquired over a significant period
  • oPost graduate qualification in specialist field of practice
  • oJAG accredited endoscopist in upper and lower GI (including colonoscopy)
  • oIndependent Nurse Prescriber
  • oTeaching certificate e.g. TTT/TCT/TGT

  • oAdvanced communication course
  • oLeadership qualification

Experience

  • oAutonomous practitioner with extensive nurse endoscopist experience of carrying out diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy (minimum 3 years of independent practice)
  • oLevel 2 Polypectomy Skills
  • oEvidence of meeting/exceeding endoscopy KPI's
  • oLeadership across organisation and within team
  • oTeaching, assessing and evaluating trainees in upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
  • oEvidence of conducting audits (sometimes large and/or complex).
  • oInvolvement in or experience of undertaking research
  • oAbility to work within and lead a team
  • oEvidence of managing a caseload or care group in a clinical setting, with multidisciplinary working.
  • oExperience in change and project management
