How would you like to come and work in a dynamic and forward thinking Endoscopy & Minor Ops Unit at the Nelson Health Centre, as part of St George's NHS Trust?
This role involves providing excellent nursing care to patients having procedures including oral gastroscopy, transnasal endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, cystoscopy and minor operations. As skills and competencies develop, taking charge and actively participating in and contributing to the management of the department. Supervising and mentoring junior staff. Participate in the decontamination, traceability and maintenance of endoscopes and other specialised equipment used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures and providing technical assistance during such procedures.
Main duties of the job
You will work with the friendly multidisciplinary team in providing patient centred care for patients undergoing gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, transnasal endoscopy, cystoscopy and plastic surgery day case procedures.
We pride ourselves on putting our patients first and provide a supportive environment for staff for training in Endoscopy both in the formal and informal setting. You will be based at The Nelson Health Centre, but you can have the opportunity to work at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton and St George's Hospital in Tooting.
The primary aim of the Endoscopy & Minor Ops Unit is to provide an effective, comprehensive, high quality endoscopy and minor operations service for those patients assessed as suitable for day case treatment in a community setting. The Unit was designed around the patient's experience, providing a relaxed and calming environment for patients, staff and visitors.
We are looking for a band 5 nurse, ideally with 6 months post registration experience to come and join our team.

Essential
- Registered Nurse (general)
- A minimum of 6 months post registration experience in an acute setting
- Awareness of professional responsibilities
Desirable
- NURB 280/360 or ENB 906 equivalent
- ENB 998 or equivalent teaching qualification
- Minimum 6 months experience working within the Endoscopy setting
Organisational Management
Essential
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.
- Ability to effectively prioritise workload and patient care needs.
- Demonstrates an understanding of managing resources
- Demonstrates an understanding of clinical risk
