Job summary

Opportunity also for a 1 year fixed term post

Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapists required to join our specialist rotations including the Emergency Department, Acute Medicine Unit, Oncology team, Senior Health wards and Community Rehabilitation.

We are expanding our work force and are looking for enthusiastic Physiotherapists with a minimum of 18 months postgraduate experience including 12 months NHS experience, who are keen to develop their acute assessment, rehabilitation and discharge skills of adults within a variety of acute and community settings. Successful applicants will participate inthe night on call respiratory service and weekend working in the admission avoidance service and haematology/oncology service

Clinical post providing physiotherapy - 9 monthly rotations including:

  • STAR- admission avoidance ED/AMU
  • Acute frailty unit
  • Senior health wards
  • Oncology
  • Falls and bone health (St Johns Therapy Centre)
  • Mary Seacole, older persons rehab QMH site

Main duties of the job

There are currently an exciting variety of rotations, each one lasting approximately 9 months:

  • Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit
  • In-patient Senior Health wards including the Acute Senior Health Assessment Unit and acute senior health wards with opportunities to develop skills in working with older people with delirium and dementia and inpatients following fragility fracture and major trauma
  • In-patient oncology and haematology service developing skills in the rehabilitation of this patient group. In addition to inpatient rehabilitation, you will be involved in the delivery of education sessions for patients and their families at health and wellbeingdays.
  • Community Rehabilitation settings: intermediate care bed based unit

The successful physiotherapist will have excellent clinical and communication skills and experience in discharge planning, lone and team working skills. They will be supported by the Clinical Team Leads in each rotation. Continuing Professional Development is encouraged through our appraisal system, and there is a well-established in-service education programme. The department is actively involved in seven day working, supporting evidence-based practice, clinical audit and research.

Experience
