Job summary
To assist in managing on an operational level the radiographic activity of the South West London Breast Screening Service (SWLBSS), including six static sites across South West London and the symptomatic breast imaging service at St Georges Hospital. To undertake the day to day management, raising concerns to the Superintendent Radiographer,within budgetary and financial constraints and to lead in the absence of the Superintendent.
ou must hold the Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography. We are housed in a purpose built facility, providing a light, modern environment from which to deliver a fully digital service.Due to the nature of the work this post is open to female applicants only. Main duties of the job
To work alongside the Superintendent in the day-to-day delivery of the radiographic activity of the SWLBSS and St Georges symptomatic Breast service ensuring delivery of the service within budgetary and financial constraints and to lead in the absence of the Superintendent.
To be a member of the senior management team and develop the service in conjunction with the Director, Programme Manager and Superintendent through the planning and procurement of specialist equipment and staff, including service improvements through better ways of working.

- Through the effective day to day management of staffing, ensure the smooth running of the service. This will include the reallocation of workload and/or resources as necessary
- Responsible for the day to day management of annual leave and sickness for radiographers, clinic assistants and assistant practitioners in line with Trust policies, raising any staffing issues to the Superintendent. To participate in the staff sickness management procedures as required
- To work closely with the Superintendent in planning and developing the imaging service, identifying quality issues and suggesting ways of improvement.
- To assist the Superintendent in recruitment and selection of radiographic staff
- Provide pastoral care and counselling support to staff and patients to help facilitate good staff morale.
- Responsible for the day to day management of agency and bank staff to ensure efficient delivery of service. To suggest possible staffing levels to Superintendent.
- To carry out staff appraisal on an annual basis and ensure effective CPD is established and monitored.
- To assist the Superintendent in carrying out disciplinary and capability reviews of staff in line with Trust policies.
- To be responsible for the day to day delivery of all Trust and National
initiatives where appropriate and have input into local policies to ensure effective delivery of service.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team to produce multidisciplinary clinical
standards and protocols. Developing clinical protocols as part of the total client pathway.

- To attend Regional Superintendent meetings, and chair monthly team meetings, producing minutes of these meetings as required.
