Job summary
An exciting and new opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) at St George's Hospital. GICU is a 23 bedded unit for adult patients.
Main duties of the job
Act as a specialist nursing resource for all staff, in the care of all patients in a general intensive care unit with particular focus on major trauma patients
Provide, support and co-ordinate specialist nursing and MDT care for long term patients in General Intensive Care
Act as the shift leader and work clinically as required
Participate in the education, training & professional development of critical care staff, individually and as part of the appraisal process
Lead and participate in audit and research pertinent to critical care

St George's University Hospitals is a leading NHS Trust employing over 9,000 staff and one of London's designated Major Trauma Centres. We are unique in that we operate in a large Critical Care Directorate and have three large adult Intensive Care Units on the same site: Neuro, Cardiothoracic and General. Although run as separate units, all work collaboratively across the Adult Critical Care Directorate, sharing expertise and innovations.
