An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team! The successful candidate will co-ordinate and organize all donor (stemcell, lymphocyte) and therapeutic (plasma exchange,leucodepletion, red cell exchange) apheresis services,procedures, investigations and consent.

Youwill expedite care in a cohesive and safe manner that meets accreditation standards. You will provide information, support and advice to the patient, family, multi-disciplinary clinical teams, referringhospitals and the community. This involves both inpatient andoutpatient care, ensuring the patient has all medical, nursing,physical, psychological and social needs addressed.

Main duties of the job

Apheresis Nurse band 6 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new band 6 nurse with excellent venepuncture and cannulation skills who would like to further their career in Haematology. We are a leading centre for red cell exchange with history dating back to 1995. The successful applicant will join a highly skilled specialist team that offer Apheresis procedures such as autologous and allogeneic stem cell collection , leukodepletion and therapeutic plasma exchanges to a number of different specialities at St Georges. Full training will be given as well as training in ultra sound guided cannulation. Once trained the post holder will be expected to join the 24 hour on call service. The post holder will be expected to provide and maintain high standards of care to our adult and paediatric patients, be able to work autonomously as well as part of a cohesive team, have excellent communication skills and work within the multi - disciplinary team. They will demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to this highly specialist group of patients. Be able to organise and prioritise their own work load, to work within an environment that requires flexibility and the need to work under pressure.
