This post is for a highly specialised paediatric physiotherapist working within the Paediatric Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) service. The post involves supporting the team to deliver care to babies and children with a variety of MSK conditions and to support babies and their families in their DDH journeys.
The St George's Paediatric Physiotherapy Service is forward thinking, proactive and strongly supports and encourages continuous professional development.
The post provides excellent opportunities to develop your professional skills as you will be a key member of the MSK team and a key leader in the management of babies with DDH. There will be opportunities to work alongside some of the specialist services including Orthopaedics along with close working with our wider team and physiotherapy colleagues.
Main duties of the job
You will need to have:
- Experience of working in paediatric orthopaedics
- Knowledge of assessment and intervention approaches for children with DDH
- Interest in close joint working and working as part of a dedicated team
- The ability to support and supervise students,junior staff and others
- The ability to work autonomously, flexibly and under sometimes challenging conditions
- Enthusiasm, imagination and initiative

Job responsibilities
- To work as an autonomous practitioner within the Ponseti Clubfoot service and DDH service in providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a designated caseload of patients with lower limb and foot deformities and to maintain up to date physiotherapy records.
- To deputise for the band 8a for annual leave and study leave.
- To work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary paediatric orthopaedic team providing a holistic service to the child and his/her family/carer.
- To use evidence-based principles/current best practise and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and to ensure that all members of your team do likewise.
- To participate in CPD and other developmental activities and encourage members of your team to do the same.
- To be responsible for the supervision, teaching of more junior staff, assistants, and students on placement.
- To be responsible for providing an efficient and effective paediatricphysiotherapy service, by demonstrating good leadership, organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
- To manage and prioritise own workload, and appropriately balance clinical and other demands to ensure all service needs are met.
- To be able to manage an unpredictable work pattern, due to acceptance of referrals that cannot be added to a waiting list.
