Job summary
St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a highly motivated MRI physicist to join the Non-Ionising Radiation Section within the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering department. The Non-Ionising Radiation Section is comprised of 6 (soon to be 7) physicists, 3 of which work full time in MRI providing physics services for 5 static scanners, 2 mobile scanners, and various external contracts. This is a very exciting time to join the team with 3 new MRI scanners having been installed into a brand new build on-site in Summer 2022.
Main duties of the job
The group is innovative, technology driven and provides a wide range of scientific support for clinical activities in the Trust and to a number of external healthcare providers. The group provides support at all stages of the MRI equipment lifecycle, including specification, acceptance testing, equipment advice, user training, protocol development and optimisation, quality assurance (QA), PACS connectivity and decommissioning. In addition, the section provides MRI physics teaching and safety advice. The post is based at St George's Hospital but some travel and overnight stays in support of external contracts will be required.
The successful candidate will have a master's level degree in a relevant subject and should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of MRI theory. HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist and experience in a healthcare setting supporting MRI is desirable. However, we are prioritising potential over experience and will provide onsite training if necessary. If successful, we will provide continuing STP training to STP applicants who have not yet completed their training.
