Job summary

To support and deputise for the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and other resources.Also to carry out the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the ward/department. To take charge of the unit on a regular basis and manage a cohort of staff on the ward with minimal supervision. To ensure that there are education and training opportunities for all staff, including pre and post registration students and /or providing specialist knowledge if working in a clinical area where a post registration course is essential e.g. critical care setting

Main duties of the job

Nye Bevan Unit - Emergency Surgical Assessment Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to lead an Emergency Surgical Assessment Unit. The unit provides care for the following surgical specialities: GI, colorectal,ENT,plastics,urology,maxfax and T&O.

If you are an experienced and motivated senior nurse with ED or surgery background, and keen to develop your management and leadership skills, able to demonstrate the ability to promote a collaborative approach to caring for acutely unwell patients and are able to embrace the challenge of working in a busy and challenging environment, then this is the job for you.

The Unit has an excellent team of Nursing, Medical and Support staff who have extremely high standards and give exemplary patient care. Each member of the team endeavours to ensure that our patients receive the best experience possible all the while demonstrating the Trust core values of being caring, excellent, responsible and respectful.

As a Senior Staff Nurse you will provide clinical and managerial leadership to the ward and must be pro-active in driving the service forward. You will oversee all staff and support the Senior Sister. Clear visible leadership is required to promote excellence and professional behaviour from all staff. If you have a strong focus on patient care, proven leadership skills and are able to work alongside other professional teams then we are keen for you to join our team.
