Job summary

We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced BMS to join our team at a Senior level within our dynamic, supportive, and friendly team at the Epsom site. This post is based at Epsom General Hospital Clinical Blood Sciences Laboratory (CBS) however the post holder may be required to work at any of the South West London Pathology sites as and when necessary.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic motivated and focused person to lead and supervise the day to day delivery of a busy service; ensuring clinical results are provided in a timely and efficient manner. The post holder will be keen to adapt to new challenges and ways of working as services are transformed as part of an expanded South West London Pathology network.

The successful applicant will have

  • Good working knowledge of general Chemistry automation
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of Quality Management Systems
  • Experience of leadership and managing people
  • The ability to provide advanced technical support
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and accuracy.

Main duties of the job

This post is based in Biochemistry, however you may be required to work across the other specialist sections in biochemistry across the Epsom and St Helier sites. There is an expectation of the post holder to participate in the out of hours service provision.

The laboratory at Epsom General Hospital is currently in the process of being refreshed with an upgrade from Abbott Architect analysers to Abbott Alinity ci analysers with GLP task targeted automation. Experience of working with these analysers would be desirable, but not essential.

The Laboratory operates a 24/7 service (with multidisciplinary out of hours) providing cover to a busy A&E, obstetrics and acute services.
