Job summary

We are looking for a motivated paediatric senior staff nurse in our Children and Young Person's Emergency Department, this is 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Are you looking for a challenge and excited about working in a fast-paced, innovative environment? We are seeking an experienced paediatric nurse to join our Emergency Department team. You will have experience with shift management, staff development and be able to provide first-rate care to critically ill children. We see a wide variety of patients, from those with primary care issues in our Urgent Care Centre, to trauma patients seen in the designated Major Trauma Centre for southwest London. Main duties of the job

Ensuring nursing care is assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated.

To demonstrate clinical expertise in the care of patients receiving emergency or urgent care in the department.

To accurately assess and interpret clinical information about the patients' condition prior to medical intervention.

In conjunction with senior colleagues, be responsible for setting, monitoring and maintaining high standards of care within the multi-disciplinary team.

Maintaining personal contact with patients, relatives and carers; being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy and act as an effective role model ensuring a friendly environment at all times.

To ensure nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with St George's Healthcare policy including taking appropriate actions in emergency situations.

Maintaining accurate and up to date nursing documentation and ensuring that confidentiality is respected.

Storing, checking and administering drugs in accordance with Trust policy.

To ensure appropriate prioritization and streaming of patients.

To use assessment skills to direct patients to appropriate care providers and areas of the department suitable to their needs.

To use advanced skills such as suturing, plastering and cannulation and PGD's to provide a seamless experience through the department.
