Job summary
The Maxillofacial and Dental Surgery department provides outpatient services Monday to Friday. The department also provided Inpatient and Day Case services The Maxillofacial Unit treats a comprehensive range of services to correct problems with the face, mouth, teeth and jaws (maxilla means jaw).
It comprises four departments: Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, Orthodontics and Paediatric (Children's) Dentistry, which work closely together and provide joint clinics where appropriate. The Unit, which provides services for patients across southwest London and surrounding areas, sees more than 700 patients a week.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly person with excellent people skills to join our team.
You will be responsible for delivering a high quality service to patients, including ensuring that clinic letters are either typed or sent off for external transcription and despatched to the GP/Dentist within 5 working days and responding to a wide range of patient queries. You will also work closely with the consultants and clinical and nursing team to ensure a first class service to our patients.
As a member of this team you will enjoy working closely with the public, problem-solving and using your initiative in order to ensure the smooth running of busy clinics and outpatient appointments. Enthusiasm and the ability to learn are much more important than NHS experience.
Ideally you will have excellent organisational and communicational skills, the ability to work as part of a team and to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
