Job summary

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing specific capital projects from inception to completion to cost and time: They will;

  • Assist the Head of Capital Projects in all aspects of the Trust's Capital Programme.
  • Lead the delivery of a range of high-profile new build, adaptation and refurbishment building projects across our diverse and complex estate portfolio.

  • Be responsible for providing a high level technical advisory service to clinical stakeholders, and play a key part in the successful delivery of the Trust's capital programme.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the day to day management of the project (including contractors and whole project budgets) and delivery of the project deliverables within agreed constraints
  • Planning, monitoring and controlling all aspects of a project to ensure that the most cost effective, timely and appropriate solutions are developed to fulfil the Trust's strategic goals.
  • Producing project documentation including financial and progress reporting, specific project documentation, highlight and checkpoint progress reports, quality assurance reports, and risk/issue management logs related to their schemes.
  • Manage the relationship with external suppliers to define and agree business needs, objectives and system requirements and any interfaces with the operational hospital staff, ensuring the scheme delivers the agreed output specification and commissioners/users' requirements.

The Senior Project Manager will assist the Head of Capital Projects in all aspects of the Trust's Capital programme and lead the delivery of specific capital projects with particular focus on the feasibility and inception phases of scheme development.

Essential

  • Degree in Engineering/Construction related subject
  • Professional / academic qualification at Masters level or equivalent experience of Capital Development.

Desirable

  • Relevant professional or management qualifications e.g. Chartered Status such as RIBA, RICS, CIOB, APM, PMI, etc.
  • Project/Programme Management qualification MSP Practitioner, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, APMP etc.

Experience

Essential

  • specialist knowledge in more one or more of the following areas for at least 5 years: oHealthcare Architecture oHealthcare Planner with recognised qualification oEngineering oProject Management that includes healthcare planning experience.
  • Significant and proven/demonstrable expertise in healthcare planning that includes experience working as part of a design team and also within an NHS Trust.
  • Significant and proven/demonstrable experience of managing contractors, consultant teams and direct labour staff.
  • Understanding of the design development process and key RIBA project stages.

  • Must be able to communicate technical subjects to non-technical people
  • Excellent AutoCAD and Revit skills
  • good leadership skills and drive for the development of services.
