Job summary

The post holder will support developing compliance with key governance requirements such as CQC Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS) and maternity transformation programmes, with responsibility for performance management of key indicators. The post holder will work closely with the Associate director of midwifery and the consultant midwife and is key in the leadership of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the department and will be pivotal role in relationship building, education and training for our workforce, in order to make a difference to clinical care for our service users.

The post holder will have a high profile, be an accessible and responsive leader who is able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving pregnant women and other stakeholders to ensure agreed standards and targets are met.

This role is intrinsic to the future success of our maternity and neonatal transformation plans.

Main duties of the job

To lead in the delivery of the national maternity and neonatal transformation strategy and quality agenda. Instrumental in monitoring and supporting performance and delivery of excellence in midwifery, championing choice for women and their families and providing strong leadership for the midwifery team.

Work in collaboration with the Director of Midwifery, Associate director of midwifery, Neonatal team, Clinical Director, Governance lead midwife, Consultant body, Senior midwifery team and Workforce and education teams to lead on Quality Improvement (QI) projects within maternity and women's health services.

Ensure that all of the key performance indicators KPI's for MCoC are meticulously recorded, to report back at board level, locally and regionally into the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS). The KPI's must be recorded and presented monthly as a formal report detailing any actions that need to be undertaken with comprehensive actions if required clearly detailed.

To liaise with the Trust's Heads of Equality and Inclusion, to provide advice and subject matter guidance for the maternity team on all EDI related matters, with particular emphasis on the clinical pathway for Black, Asian and Ethnic minority service users.
