Lead Midwife for Antenatal Ward with Cross Cover for the Postnatal Ward

Are you an experienced and compassionate midwife with a passion for both antenatal and postnatal care? We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled midwife to lead our Antenatal Ward while also providing valuable cross cover for our Postnatal Ward, required when the postnatal lead midwife is on leave or not available. Join our dynamic maternity unit and play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care to mothers and their newborns.

We are looking for forward-thinking, positive leaders who can help us continue to achieve great things. The ideal candidate will already be operating at an advanced level, possessing a wide range of clinical skills and experience in various settings, and be able to support junior staff while ensuring quality care provision for women.

Main duties of the job

  • Be an expert practitioner and role model.
  • Provide proactive and demonstrate effective leadership skills.
  • Foster a culture of support for multidisciplinary working taking in to account the needs of other professionals and students from all disciplines
  • Promote safe, evidence-based care.
  • Develop and publish auditable standards to demonstrate service compliance with
  • Provide operational and clinical leadership to all staff working within the antenatal ward.
  • Foster a culture that promotes women centred care and supports individualised care plans.
  • Develop systems and processes to improve and develop support, communication and a positive culture within the service.
  • Explore ways to further develop the integration of services to meet the continuity of carer agenda.
  • Promote inter-professional and multidisciplinary working to ensure care pathways and service developments are established to provide women centred care and optimise outcomes.

  • NMC Registered Midwife
  • BSc in Midwifery
  • Evidence of professional development
  • Assessor/mentorship course or equivalent ALSO/NALS/MOET course

Desirable

  • Masters in Midwifery, or evidence of working towards
  • Professional Midwifery Advocate
  • Managerial/Leadership qualifications and / or experience

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

  • Awareness and understanding of current national and local midwifery issues.
  • Demonstrate a desire to improve standards
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management
  • Understand systems of team approach in midwifery
