Main duties of the job
Health Advisor Band 6
Provide information and health education for clients diagnosed with HIV & sexually transmitted infections, providing support and onward referral as required.Support patients with inconclusive HIV results until their HIV results are ascertainedProvide effective partner notification (PN) in order to fulfil a public health role by securing the attendance and treatment outcomes of the contacts of patientsTo liaise with other GUM/HIV clinics nationally to facilitate partner notification.To independently manage own caseload, including more challenging Provider Referral PN in HIVTo engage with clients specifically around risk reduction and behaviour change, using evidenced based tools such as Motivational Interviewing and Behavioural Change models.Provide comprehensive risk assessment of patients in crisis and make onwards referrals to appropriate specialist services e.g. Psychology/Psychiatry & Substance Misuse services
