Job summary

The Neonatal Transitional Care Lead will work as part of the postnatal team under the supervision ofthe Lead Midwife for Maternity Inpatients Services. The post holder will practice throughout thematernity unit but will be primarily based on the postnatal ward. They will be responsible for continuingthe work to date on the Trust's journey towards implementing Transitional Care within the unit. Therole's key focus is to facilitate the implementation and evaluation of a programme aimed specifically atNeonatal Transitional Care (NTC).It will involve working with the Inpatient MaternityMatron and Lead Midwives strategically and operationally to meet the BAPM recommendations andFramework for Neonatal Transitional Care, and also in accordance with the Trusts' NTC guideline.Successful implementation of NTC also requires joint working between midwifery, neonatal staff, andpaediatric services. Therefore, it is essential that the post holder is able to work collaboratively in amultidisciplinary team. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for training and supporting staffmembers to provide care for newborns who require NTC. For example, IV therapy, phototherapy. Therole will involve striving for consistent delivery of high quality NTC at the Trust, with the focus being onthe needs of both the mother and baby. This is integral to the philosophy of family-centred care withinthe maternity unit.

We are looking for a motivated, hardworking, and innovative individual who has significant experience working with neonates. As a Neonatal Transitional Care Lead, you will lead Transitional Care within Croydon's Maternity Unit working alongside midwives, neonatal nurses, and neonatologists.

Neonatal Transitional Care enables babies who have additional care requirements to be looked after by their mother with the support of healthcare professionals.
