Job summary
We are excited to announce this new role working jointly as part of the Crocus home birth team and as core staff in our alongside Birthing centre.Are you a midwife with passion and dedication to work autonomously in low-risk intrapartum areas? Do you want to be part of a homebirth team but are unable to due to the on-call working model? Then this could be the perfect role for you.
This role is being offered as a flexible working opportunity with the option of having set shifts. It is the perfect opportunity to be part of a homebirth team and hold a small caseload of homebirth women/birthing people which would include one antenatal clinic shift and will be limited to a maximum of one night on call per week. The remaining shifts would be within our Lucina birth centre.
The Crocus Team has been providing an exceptional home birth service to the women of Croydon over the past decade, and is proud to have been home to the RCM/Emma's Diary Midwife of the Year for London in 2019, as well as being nominated for RCM Team of the Year 2018.
We have an increasing number of women wishing to have their babies at home and we are driven to continue providing an exceptional home birth service to our women of Croydon.
Main duties of the job
Homebirth and Birth Centre Flexible Working Midwife
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Band 6 midwives to join an innovative, home birth service and also work at our birth centre delivering low-risk intrapartum care, developing skills and the opportunity to gain experience with Home births.
Your role will include one antenatal clinic shift where you will visit women in their homeswith a maximum of one night on-call. All remaining shifts will be allocated to work on the Lucina birth centre.
As part of our Maternity Transformation work with Continuity of Carer, we have remodeled our home birth service provision to enable us to expand our caseload and aim to improve sustainability and job satisfaction for midwives.
We are looking for highly motivated, clinically experienced and forward thinking midwives, with a passion for normal birth and continuity of care.
You will join a supportive and experienced team taking lead in antenatal and postnatal care as a named midwife for your own caseload of women, and provide rostered intrapartum care for home birth and 'Domino scheme' Crocus team women.
