Junior Sister/Charge Nurse

1 Permanent post & 1 Fixed Term/Secondment

The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will have the ongoing clinical responsibility for the Ambulatory Surgical Hub as a Team Leader.

Youwill be required to provide managerial accountability in addition to clinical duties, the direct supervision and training of junior staff will be their responsibility in order to ensure the provision of high quality and cost effective service to patients and users.

The Junior Sister/Charge nursewill be responsible for the provision of high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives.

Main duties of the job

  • Daily coordination of the Ambulatory Surgical Hub, ensuring patient flow, liaising with many multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Radar reports for incidents that occur.
  • Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment.
  • To identify suitable teaching opportunities/requirements and to undertake practical teaching and supervision of learners and others as delegated.
  • Work with other disciplines and professions for the welfare of patients.
  • Provide assistance in clinical procedure with the Ambulatory Surgical Hub;
  • Provide immediate post-operative care
  • Provide initial emergency care as required.
  • Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the clinical/Team lead ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety.
  • Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the Ambulatory Surgical Hub, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives
  • Adhere to the procedures for the use of supplies, ordering requirements for the Department as directed by line manager.
  • Act as a preceptor to designated, newly qualified nurses within the clinical area.
  • Act as a mentor to designated students within the clinical area.
  • In consultation with the team leader agree learning objectives to meet professional and personal needs.
