We are seeking a dynamic Public Health Nurse Team Leader preferably with School Nursing experience to join our growing service and play a central role in leading high-quality, community-focused care.

The post holder will lead and manage a 0-19 public health nursing team within Croydon Health Services Trust Integrated Women, Children and Sexual Health Directorate.

There are three 0 to 19 Teams within the London Borough of Croydon that are aligned to three geographical localities; North, South and Central.

The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, support and management of skill mix teams made up of SCPHN Health Visitors, School Nurses, staff nurses, nursery nurses, specialist school nurses and health visitors, and screeners, ensuring delivery of commissioned activity in line with the public health commissioners service specifications, the national Healthy Child Programme and public health outcomes framework.

The post holder will be a highly skilled and experienced health visitor or school nurse who will be a credible clinical lead who manages the operational delivery of the service.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Management

Develop and ensure effective multiagency working with midwives, schools, children centres, GP's, early intervention services, and other children service providers and community and voluntary sector providers.

To work in partnership with the Community Matron in the profiling and on-going monitoring of caseloads and individual workload, using the demand and capacity tool, revising as required the allocation of resource to areas of greatest need.

Leadership

To act as a strong role model, leading the development and provision of excellence in clinical practice, supporting and respecting staff to develop and strengthen practice by innovation and leading the implementation of practice and service improvement. Providing highly specialised advice in relation to the care of children and their families.

To support the Community Matron in the investigation of complaints and incidents ensuring improvements and service learning are actioned and shared.

To participate in supervision and appraisal processes according to organisational policy, for self and direct reports, ensuring that supervision and PDR requirements are met.

Work with Community Matrons to address any issues regarding development support needs or poor performance within the team.
