Perinatal Mortality Review Specialist Midwife

Job summary
The post holder will be a practicing midwife who will lead and manage the PMRT (Perinatal Mortality Review Tool) review processes for all eligible cases of intrauterine and neonatal deaths.
The post holder will be responsible for identifying applicable cases, coordinating and managing the reviews, share learnings and implement changes to improve practice, in line with standards set by MBRRACE, NHS Resolution Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts, and the National Bereavement Care Pathway.

Main duties of the job
The PMRT Midwife will be an expert who is passionate about improving maternity services and promoting patient safety. They will be responsible for ensuring that all eligible cases of late miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death are reviewed in line with national standards and local governance strategy using the MBRRACE tool and be responsible for report writing to a high standard in collaboration with the PMRT consultant lead.
o They will be responsible for working closely with the bereavement midwives to ensure all cases are identified for review and notified to MBRRACE. The bereavement midwives will be responsible for completing the MBRRACE notification and perinatal surveillance. The PMRT Midwife will then take over the responsibility of the case.
o The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the PMRT review process is implemented to meet standards set by the NHS Resolution Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST).
o They will work closely with the Perinatal Quality and Safety Team and the bereavement midwives to support and facilitate the PMRT process and to make sure that the families' voice is heard and included at each Perinatal Mortality Review.
o They will maintain responsibility for organizing the PMRT multidisciplinary review meetings, including inviting external PMRT teams to maintain a fair, non-bias review.
