Job summary
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced infection prevention and control nurse on a Fixed Term basis to cover maternity leave for 12 months.
The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, have a good work ethic, passion for IPC, ability to manage own workload,demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with others. The ability to influence and articulate best IPC practice across our broad range of services is essential.
The post holder will develop a quality, proactive and evidence-based IPC service, to prevent and reduce the incidence of infections and implement systems to enhance patient and staff safety across the organisation.
Previous IPC experience is essential for this role. The successful candidate must also be computer literate,have good organisational skillsand be able to demonstrate autonomous working and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) advice and support to staff and teams working both in the acute and community services to ensure adherence to good practice in IPC is maintained.
The post holder will act as an adviser disseminating specialist skills and knowledge to all staff groups, patients and visitors and be visible and accessible to staff, patients and visitors always acting as a good role model.
The post holder will contribute to the daily organisation of the service in the absence of the Senior Infection Prevention & Control Nurse.
The post holder will provide strong, visible on-site leadership, support and guidance to all Trust and community staff and ensuring a patient focused service.
The post holder will identify and ensure prompt investigation of outbreaks of infections, analysing the available information so that root causes can be identified, lessons learned and shared and practice can be improved to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Ensure processes are in place and assist with the collection of clinical surveillance and monitoring data for national and mandatory surveillance as required.
Utilise analysis of the results of this surveillance to identify areas where improvement can be made and work with clinical teams to achieve this.
The post holder will work in collaboration with Clinical site practitioners to ensure safe placement and movement of patients to enhance positive patient experience.
