Job summary
- To assist in the reprocessing and distribution of medical and surgical reusable devices for use in patient.
- After a qualifying period the post holder will be expected to occasionally work on their own and participate in the on-call.
- To work at all times in accordance with the department's Quality Management System.
- To demonstrate a flexible "can do" attitude and respond to major incidents.
- This role involves manual handling, exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and working with chemicals and machinery. There is no involvement with patients.
Main duties of the job
Decontamination Technician Band 2
Production Duties1. Accurately checking back into the department instruments that have been used in patient operations, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packing, sterilisation and distribution. This will involve learning about the safety and operational aspects of machinery used in the departments.2. To comply with all reasonable requests made by a Supervisor, Manager or designated Decontamination Technician.3. To complete all paperwork correctly, legibly and on time. Particular attention is paid to accounting for each instrument / item on the Tray List / Pack Specification.4. To inform a Supervisor when any raw material stocks are becoming low.5. To actively participate in the appraisal system in accordance with Trust policy.
