Job summary
This is an existing post that has become vacant to due staffing changes within the Respiratory Department at Croydon. The post holder will be expected to participate in respiratory outpatient activities, ward referrals and inpatient cover. There will also be the opportunity to develop a ambulatory pleural service. They will be expected to attend the weekly Lung Cancer MDT meeting and Chest Radiology meeting. There will also be time allocated to a weekly bronchoscopy list as well as time dedicated to teaching and training of junior staff.
It is envisaged that the appointee will contribute to quality improvement and delivery of inpatient, outpatient and emergency work; there will be SPA time is allocated to achieve this. They will provide a strong visible presence across the organisation, be a role model of good leadership and effective communication at individual, team, directorate and whole organisation level.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based at Croydon University Hospital, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and Croydon Health Services and at other work locations including off site working may be agreed in your Job Plan where appropriate; proposed Job Plan is attached. There will be an average of 8 Programmed Activities of Direct Clinical Care, with the remainder being allocated for Supporting Professional and/or other Activities.

- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
- Inclusion in the specialist register for Respiratory and General Internal Medicine, or within 6 months of CCST at time of interview
- Full registration with the GMC Appropriate higher medical qualification (i.e. MRCP or equivalent)

- Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
Training & Experience

- Minimum two years' experience in Respiratory medicine at SpR level or equivalent.
- High standard of clinical skill and expertise in the specialty
