Specialist Pharmacist - Education and Training
Band 7
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Croydon Health Services (CHS) for a dedicated and passionate pharmacist to work within out Education and Training Team, deputising and supporting the Principal Pharmacist for Education and Training.
The successful applicant will have previous hospital pharmacy experience, having provided clinical services to a variety of clinical environments. You will join a team of pharmacists and technicians working in Education and Training to support, lead and develop the undergraduate training programme with Brighton University, the Foundation Training for Trainee Pharmacists while providing clinical input, support medicines management and improve transfer of care.
Under the guidance of the principal pharmacist, you will be introduced to core activities to support and superviseundergraduate students, trainees, newly qualified pharmacists as well as being involved in nursing education and training of junior doctors. You will also deliver, develop and evaluate E&T services in accordance with the objectives set by the Principal Pharmacist.
The role is designed to develop clinical, professional and leadership skills, ensuring the development of a well rounded pharmacist.
We will provide clinical development and professional development opportunities such as the post-graduate diploma, independent prescribing, and E&T development, if necessary.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the delivery of the Education and Training Strategy at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and also provide a Clinical Pharmacy service to a defined specialty.
They will deputise for the Principal Pharmacist (Education and Training) in the delivery of the E&T responsibilities and duties such as;- Teaching of undergraduate pharmacy and medical students- Induction and training of junior doctors- Supervision of Brighton Undergraduate Pharmacy Placements- Recruitment and organisation of Pharmacy Summer Placement Programme and WorkExperience Programme- Support with the Foundation Training Year Programme for trainee pharmacists- Support with induction and training of junior pharmacists
-Delivery of education to nursing and medical professionals.
The successful candidate will also support and supervise the pharmacy technician within the team. Band 6 Pharmacists can apply for progression to a specialist Band 7 role.

Essential
- Pharmacy Degree
- Certificate in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
- Candidate must be Registered with GPhC
- Evidence of commitment to CPD and maintains an uptodate CPD portfolio
Desirable
- MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
- Member of RPS
- Non medical prescriber
Knowledge
Essential
- Good knowledge of pharmacy practice
- Demonstrates sound clinical knowledge and ability to apply it to practice
- Good working knowledge of National Policy and guidelines (incl NICE guidance) applicable to the different specialties
- Awareness of current NHS issues including national and local priorities
- Demonstrates an awareness of interface issues
- Working knowledge of risk management and clinical governance
