Job summary

Senior Therapy Assistant

Post holder will work as part of the Acute Therapy Team providing skilled support to the Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists and will undertake duties as allocated to them by a qualified member of the Therapy staff. The post holder will be based at Croydon University Hospital. The post holder will work with a variety of adult clients, who have a variety of acute or long-term medical illness or disabilities, who often have complex needs and social problems

Main duties of the job

  1. To carry own caseload of patients, as delegated by the Therapists. To progress and adapt designated therapy programmes in line with own scope of practice and competency (which will have been agreed at appraisal) and feedback to the responsible Therapist, taking into account changes in the patients' health and social needs. This will include
  2. To be responsible and proactive when organising caseload in discussion with the other team members.

    3.To request, deliver and demonstrate use of equipment/patient appliances, walking aids, as necessary.

    4. To undertake home/environmental visit assessments as required and agreed with the responsible therapist

    5. To attend and contribute to team meetings and assist and support the other members of the team Including the integrated Discharge Team

    6. To use therapeutic handling skills which require dexterity and co-ordination, in the management of adults with acute illness and/disability wit mobility/balance/sensory impairment
