Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated children's nurse to come and join the team at Croydon as a Children's community matron. The post will lead the assessment and strategic planning of complex operational issues and challenges within Children's community services. This will demand high levels of analysis, judgment, decision making and interaction to identify and agree clear solutions and recommendations that the post holder will be responsible for leading their teams to implement.

Visible leadership through clinical presence and development of the teams. To lead on the development of a clear plan to develop nurses and nursing practice and the provision of a safe effective and high quality care for the patients, carers and families.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for demonstrating continuous improvements in standards of clinical nursing care within Children's community service.

Continuously improving patient satisfaction and patient experience in relation to being treated with dignity and respect.

To maintain personal clinical competence and acumen through regular, direct clinical involvement. To spend a minimum of 40% of time working clinically (rostered) within areas of responsibility as agreed by the Head of Nursing and Associate Director of Nursing.

To monitor the nursing establishments in conjunction with sisters/charge nurses, ensuring timely recruitment and appropriated selection of staff. To assist in identifying and implementing appropriate recruitment and retention initiatives.

To work in close association with the Matron for Children's services unplanned care and the Matron for Children's services unplanned care ensuring joint working, excellent communication and that adequate provision is made for cross cover during periods of leave.

To ensure that there are strategies in place at department level to ensure the protection of vulnerable children and adults.
