Job summary

We are excited to announce this new role working jointly as part of the Crocus home birth team and as core staff in our alongside Birthing centre. Are you a midwife with passion and dedication to work autonomously in low-risk intrapartum areas? Do you want to be part of a homebirth team but are unable to due to the on-call working model? Then this could be the perfect role for you.

This role is being offered as a flexible working opportunity with the option of having set shifts. It is the perfect opportunity to be part of a homebirth team and hold a small caseload of homebirth women/birthing people.

Your working week would include a short dayshift seeing your caseload clients antenatally/postnatally. You will be limited to a maximum of one night on call per week. The remainder of your shifts would be within our alongside midwifery Unit.

The Crocus Team has been providing an exceptional home birth service to the women of Croydon over the past decade, and is proud to have been home to the RCM/Emma's Diary Midwife of the Year for London in 2019, as well as being nominated for RCM Team of the Year 2018.

We have an increasing number of women wishing to have their babies at home and we are driven to continue providing an exceptional home birth service to our women of Croydon.

Main duties of the job

1. To work in accordance with the Trust's Here for You standards to consistently demonstrate the behaviours required to fulfil the promises we have made to the people of Croydon. These promises, developed with our patients, carers and staff help us deliver the pledges in the NHS Constitution and our own corporate objectives. The postholder is required to carry out his/her role in accordance with the organisation values, standards and behaviours, in a Professional, Compassionate, Respectful and Safe way.

2. To ensure that Croydon Health Services Trust's policies and procedures are adhered to.

3. To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations and the Trust's Health and Safety policies and procedures.

4. To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments. (more continued in JD)

About us

But with the right people on board, we are rising to this challenge, putting our people in the driving seat, encouraging innovation and transforming our services to give local people the quality of care they deserve. Croydon Health Services puts a great deal of importance on education and training. Croydon University Hospital plays an active role in training the clinicians of the future and works in partnership with major London universities

If you want the opportunity to have a real impact, challenge yourself and be part of an NHS Trust then a career at Croydon Health Services could be just what you're looking for.
