Staff Nurse - Ambulatory Surgical Hub

Band 5, Full-time 37.5 hours per week

Croydon University Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual to join the Ambulatory Surgical Hub (ASH) as a Band 5 Staff Nurse.

We are particularly interested in candidates with good experience who are able to demonstrate a commitment to developing themselves, others and supporting the ASH. You will act as role model for others, promoting best practice and the delivery of high quality, patient centred care.

This post holder is part of the clinical team provided to ensure that clinical care of patients and others using the ASH service receive an efficient and quality service.The post offers the opportunity to further develop clinical skills, utilising a wide range of clinical specialties.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will be part of the clinical team who ensure that clinical care of patients, and others using the services, receive an efficient and quality service.

The main duties of the practitioner are:

  • To work closely with the friendly team in ASH, documenting patient information, administrating medication and planned surgery
  • Caring for ambulant patients that needs treatment, medication, transfusion and wound dressing changes
  • Admitting and discharging patients home or to the relevant services if needed
  • Ability to work in the ASH, providing care for ambulant patients needing treatment or patients that have been referred from ED and other disciplinary teams
  • Keep ASH flow moving and communicate with the Senior Nurse any change in patient conditions
  • Liaise with the different specialty Doctors on patient condition
  • Documentation of Practitioner findings eg. Vital signs
  • Supervisor students and Healthcare Assistants
