Patient Pathway Navigator

Band 5

The successful applicant will be a confident self-starter who can easily adapt to complex situations requiring quick solutions. They will be the key link between the Consultants, Cancer Nurse Specialists, Admissions Co-ordinators, MDT Co-ordinators, GPs, Senior Management, Patients and Relatives. This will require advanced communication and organisational skills. The post holder will be able to signpost patients and carers to useful resources and to teams or individuals that may be able to answer their queries. They will demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and integrity representing the organisation at all times and embracing the Trusts values. The post holder will be committed to undertaking ongoing training and be invested in their own development.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Head and Neck department to join a diverse multidisciplinary team working to keep cancer patient pathways as streamlined and efficient as possible. The Cancer Navigator is a post within this team and will be key to the delivery of the national cancer waiting time standards. The organisation has recruited Cancer Navigators in other business units which has led to improved performance and a better patient experience. The hope is to build a network of Navigators across the division to share best practice and continue to improve the care our cancer patients receive.
