Occupational Therapy Technician

Band 4

The Occupational Therapy Technician post is based in the integrated Adult Community Occupational Therapy team. Our team works alongside social work colleagues with an office base in Central Croydon. Currently we are working to a hybrid model with employees having the ability to work at home for some of the time.

There is a high demand for Community Occupational Therapy, and so this is a busy role that requires you to be efficient and effective. We are a supportive and committed team, and we meet weekly for peer clinical advice sessions, so that we learn from each other. You will also have regular supervision and support.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for assessing the functional needs of adults in their homes and in a community setting, in line with all relevant legislation e.g. the Chronically Sick & Disabled Persons Act 1970, the NHS & Community Care Act 1990, and the NHS Plan 2000, and in accordance with the Service's, the Council's and the Primary Care Trust's policies and procedures. To make recommendations and implement a wide range of simple cost effective interventions to meet individuals' assessed need in accordance with an agreed care plan, to optimise client function and quality of life. To be an actively participating member of the specialist ACOT team, contributing positively to the overall function of the department, supporting the role of Occupational Therapists. To ensure that intervention is responsive, and sensitive to the social, cultural, linguistic and religious needs of clients in accordance with equal opportunity policies
