Facilities Manager - Soft Services and Patient Environment Manager

Full Time -37.50 hours per week

Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital, we are now looking to recruit a Soft Services and Patient Environment Manager into our Estates and Facilities Team

The post holder will be professionally accountable for the Trust's Support Services (listed below) and will lead the operational direction of Facility Services.

Contractual management of outsourced services:

  • Domestic Services
  • Grounds & Gardens
  • Laundry & Linen
  • Portering Services
  • Postal Services
  • Uniforms
  • Waste Management Managing

In- house services

  • Monitoring officer(s)
  • Post room team.

This post will also involve ad hoc working at weekends on a rota basis if required and on call.

The role will be responsible for the following: A budget of approximately £10m per annum.

The post holder will lead a programme of Patient Environment inspections and take appropriate actions to ensure maximum scores are attained in the National Patient Safety Agency, Patient Lead Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) process and National Standards of Cleanliness.

Main duties of the job

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

2.1 Conduct and communicate the results of Patient Environment auditing Trust wide, specifically with, Matrons, patients and FM service teams.

2.2 Provide monthly management information to the balanced score cards for the operational services within the portfolio.

2.3 Ensure engagement in PEAT standards to achieve a consistently high score for each inspection and ensure issues identified are remedied and lessons learned are applied.

2.4 Responsible for the management of pest control, post, laundry and linen, waste management, grounds and gardens and be the travel transport and access lead for the Trust

2.5 Ensure robust linen provision and adequate stock levels of linen to support high quality patient care.

2.6 Take responsibility for linen staff associated with uniform issue and distribution.

  1. WASTE MANAGEMENT

3.1 Responsible for managing and complying with all statutory instruments and NHS guidance ensuring best practice relating to waste management.
