Job responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to adhere to all Trust and Unit Policies, as well as clinical guidelines and practices, ensuring compliance at all times. You will follow the NMC / HCPC code of conduct and meet all necessary revalidation or equivalent requirements, taking responsibility for your own professional growth. This includes staying updated on changes and developments within your profession and completing any mandatory training identified.

You can participate in regular clinical supervision and actively promote research and evidence-based practice within theUTC. You can also identify areas for improvement and take part in audits, as well as assist in the collection and analysis of patient activity data, ensuring its accuracy for statistical reporting and auditing purposes.

Supporting national and local targets, you will work to meet the needs of patients attending theUTC, while also providing accurate police and solicitor statements as needed. In addition, you will observe and comply with the Trusts infection control policies, ensuring that the working environment is safe, clean, and tidy. The use of standard infection control precautions is essential to prevent or minimize the spread of micro-organisms and communicable diseases to patients, staff, and the wider community.

As part of your responsibilities, you will review and, when appropriate, help formulate new policies and protocols within theUTC. Your contribution will extend to the development and implementation of initiatives and policies within your area of responsibility, including support for the Clinical Governance Plan.

You will maintain an awareness of the Trust and Health Service industrial relations policies, ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety statutory requirements, and take responsibility for safe lifting techniques. Additionally, you will be tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, relatives, and staff, and making sure that incidents are promptly reported.

Lastly, you may be asked to undertake additional duties in response to changes in policy or practice, and attend any Trust training on equality and diversity as required.

Person Specification

Attainments

Essential

• NMC registered Nurse / Other allied health care professional (HCPC) Degree in relevant health subject
• ILS or equivalent Teaching / assessment / Mentorship Qualification

Desirable

• Approved autonomous practice course in minor injury and illness. Post-registration qualification in autonomous / specialist / advanced assessment practice* Non-medical Prescribing course* Master's in advanced practice * Leadership qualification

Work Experience

Essential

• Significant acute care experience (5 years), which includes working at a minimum of band 6 or equivalent.
• Teaching and assessment experience in clinical practice Experience of leadership experience

Desirable

• Minimum of 1 years' experience at trainee level or prior experience in an autonomous practitioner role Experience of service / practice development* Experience in a range of acute care settings*

Skills, Knowledge & Ability

Essential

• Fundamental emergency skills (such as plastering, cannulation, wound closure etc.)
• Critical decision making skills Medicines Management: Experience at working with Patient Group Directives (PGDs)

Desirable

• Advanced clinical assessment and documentation skills Evidence of radiology requesting Autonomous clinical assessment skills Competence in radiology requesting and interpretation Clinical Audit and interest in research* Knowledge of pathophysiology and clinical diagnostics*
