We're excited to be launching a new and ambitious clinical model for our Acute Medicine and Frailty services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), going live in November 2025. This transformation reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, timely, and compassionate care to patients with acute and complex medical needs.In the new model, Wards 22 & 23 will consist of the following four units: Acute Assessment Unit (AAU), Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Frailty Same Day Emergency Unit, ACUTE Frailty Unit (AFU).We are actively recruiting HCA/Support Workers. These team members will play a key role in assisting nursing and medical staff with patient assessment, admission, and discharge processes within areas. The Support Worker will be expected to carry out specific tasks as allocated by RN/Nurse in charge of area. We require caring, professional people who are keen to learn and provide good nursing care to patients attending the AAU & AMU.
Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Support Worker is an important part of the multidisciplinary team delivering direct care to patients under the support and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
The Healthcare Support Workers carry out a range of personal care activities and tasks in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse/Midwife. To achieve this, they will: o Competently perform the necessary aspects of care for patients o Ensure effective delivery of personal care in line with patient activities of daily living is provided to patients and that an acceptable standard is maintained. o Follow all Trust policies and provide a safe and person-centred environment for the treatment of patients. o Participate in personal and practice development activities to maintain standards of care

- Care Certificate attainment - (from an NHS organisation. This qualification must include the completion of both classroombased learning and practical clinical work to demonstrate comprehensive understanding and application of the required care standards).
- Effective written and verbal communication, literacy, numeracy, and IT skills to a minimum of Level 1 Maths and English
