Telephone Triage Midwifery Practitioner

Job summary

This post requires midwives who enjoy the challenge of running a new service and the post holders need to have extensive experience in all aspects of midwifery care as well as an in-depth knowledge of the organisation of maternity services. The purpose is to make access to services easier and ensures birthing people get the care they need 24 hours/ day without the need to necessarily attend the unit.

Calls are received from women at all stages of pregnancy. An excellent telephone manner will be needed. The post holders will need to learn how to use the Electronic Patient System at both University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The phone line will run 24 hours / day seven days per week. All calls are monitored.

The post holder must have significant post preceptorship experience to be able to work autonomously and innovatively.

Main duties of the job

Youwillbe requiredtowork as part of the Maternity Triage Team undertaking dedicated telephone triage to support delivery of high-quality maternity care to women, birthingpeopleand their families.

Youmay alsobe requiredto work clinically within the Triage service, and wider maternity

service, asrequiredto support the delivery of high-quality safe care.

You willhelp run a central triage telephone advice line to enable a single number contact line for women needing support from the maternity services in Lewisham,Greenwichand Bexley

You mustmustbe experienced enough to be able to work autonomously and innovatively.

Youwill be professionally accountable to the Senior Midwifery Matron forLabourWard and will liaise closely with them.
