Gynaecology Staff Nurse

Job summary

The post holder will play a key role in supporting the Gynaecology Outpatient and Early Pregnancy Unit. Working alongside the nurse managers, clinical nurse specialists, nurses and Health Care Assistants to provide gynaecology care to women. The post offers an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in providing early pregnancy, hysteroscopy, colposcopy and menopause care to women referred to our services. By supporting all aspects of care delivered the successful post holder will gain exposure to a variety of Gynaecological and early pregnancy conditions.

The post holder will be a clinically credible practitioner who can provide effective patient care in an outpatient setting, having regard for relevant policies using evidence base nursing.

The post holder will provide support and mentorship for students and junior nurses.

Main duties of the job

Support the triage of referrals to the early pregnancy unit.

Work alongside clinicians when a patient undergoes ultrasound scans, hysteroscopies, colposcopies and other Gynaecological appointments and procedures to provide chaperoning, support and privacy and dignity for patients

Undertake phlebotomy for the monitoring and surveillance of early pregnancy conditions, preparation for emergency and elective surgery
