Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Research Administrator to join the R&D team, working with the R&D Operations Manager to support, promote and facilitate research activity at the Trust, develop and extend the range of research undertaken and instil a Trust wide research culture.

The Research Administrator role would be an excellent starting point for someone interested in pursuing a career in clinical research. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate, who will be responsible for providing efficient and responsive administrative support to the clinical and non-clinical research teams in the delivery of a portfolio of studies.

Main duties of the job

You will be involved in liaising with researchers and sponsors supporting the set up and management of studies, handling amendments, ensuring training compliance, arranging Letters of Access and Honorary contracts and ensuring the research database is continually updated.

Previous NHS experience is desirable, but not essential. This is a full time post however we will also consider applicants for this role as a part-time.

You will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site but may be required to work cross site at Lewisham Hospital.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Support the Research team in providing effective and efficient support for research activity across the trust.

Provide high quality, accurate and timely data input and administration related to all research and development activities.

Key Result Area 1 Service Management:

Assist the Research Facilitator in maintaining the trust database of all research activity within the trust, obtaining information from researchers and other research staff where necessary

Support the approval process of new studies and amendments in line with latest governance requirements

Maintain up to date contact lists to facilitate communication with researchers and their team and the support departments

Assist in the provision of accurate and reliable reports from the R&D database for both internal and external reporting requirements

Maintain a database of and issue honorary contracts and Letters of Access to external staff working on active studies across the trust, following governance guidelines and trust HR policies

Maintain a database of Good Clinical Practice training records for all research active staff across the trust and ensure compliance with the requirements of the Research Governance Framework

Assist the co-ordination of any R&D promotional events, including Research Day

Assist in the maintenance of the R&D intranet and internet site to inform on relevant issues and reporting requirements as necessary

Assist in the archiving of study documentation in accordance with guidelines and sponsor requirements

Support the trust in meeting national R&D standards including the Research Governance Framework, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Information Governance, Data Protection Act etc.

Arrange and provide support for meetings, booking rooms, arranging catering

Be responsible for ensuring office equipment and supplies are monitored and ordered as required

Provide administrative support to the R&D team, photocopying, scanning as required

Keep up to date with general R&D developments and help promote research activity within the trust

Answering telephones within the department and sorting out any queries in a helpful, efficient, timely and courteous manner.
