Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust will be offering an internal graduate programme commencing December 2025.

Successful recruits will join a 2.5-year graduate scheme. You will be an integral member of operational and corporate management teams at Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust, learning what it truly takes to be an effective leader.

Main duties of the job

The graduate management scheme will consist of:

  • 2 x 12-month placements covering operational aspects of service management and project management in the NHS (including placements under a wide range of specialties such as General Surgery and Emergency Medicine) working alongside clinical and non-clinical colleagues
  • 1 x 6-month corporate placement (including placements strategy, transformation and finance)
  • Alongside your main duties, successful candidates will also undertake a 12-month Senior Leader Level 7 Apprenticeship (PG-Dip). Modules will cover subjects such as leadership, strategy, finance and risk management.

NB: Please note that the length of placements is subject to change depending on Trust priorities. However, the overall length of the scheme will remain 30 months.

The scheme will offer you extensive NHS operational experience as well as a thorough understanding of the political, regional and population context.You will receive dedicated mentorship from senior management for the duration of the scheme and be line managed in each rotation.

You will learn the fundamentals of being a manager in the NHS at a time when we are faced with huge challenges and exciting opportunities for innovation and change.
