Discharge Administrator

Job summary

The post holder will provide an efficient and effective administration to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Discharge Team and Senior Team Lead. Supporting them in the core function associated with the smooth running of the Discharge processes. Providing comprehensive secretarial and administration and data entry to the Complex Discharge Team. Good communication and organisational skills and a flexible approach are essential in ensuring the Team meet the National and Trust audit requirements.

Main duties of the job

Be fully competent in word/ excel data bases and Trust hospital computer systems.

First point of contact for both internal and external colleagues re discharge planning.

Redirect calls to appropriate discharge advisor and deal with inquiries directly as appropriate.

Monitor daily discharge team generic emails and redirect as appropriate

Manage daily administrative tasks such as photocopying scanning and ordering of stationary.

Manage discharge files within discharge folders

Attend additional training as required and support staff with training of essential data base tasks during periods of absence.

Assist with the maintenance and completion of the bespoke patient database ensuring that all the tracking steps of the patient journey are auditable and accurate.

Prepare and manage Bexley, Greenwich and out of borough spread sheets in preparation for TOCC - bi-weekly conference calls and email to Local Authority and CCG colleagues.

Manage daily Fit code and over 21 day spread sheet.

Manage D2A spread sheet and identify and record delayed discharges.

Support with ECIST Coding daily.

  • NVQ 3/RSA3 in business/ finance/ IT or equivalent with 3 years general admin experience.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of medical terminology. I Care trained. Excel /Microsoft office

  • Experience of working with a variety of professionals.
  • Knowledge and awareness of customer care.
