This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team as Staff Nurse in our Gynaecology Outpatient department.We are a dedicated women's service offering a high level of care to a large multicultural diverse population across two hospitals and communitysites. This post is based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich.
Our Gynaecology Outpatient services are rapidly expanding offering patient's choice in relation to procedures and the treatment through expansion of the current servicewhere we offer a wide range of Outpatient Gynaecology Services which include nurse-led Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy, Uro-Gynaecology and Early pregnancy specialties and Cancer nurse specialist services.We are looking for a flexible individual who has a genuine passion for caring and women's health and would like to make a difference.As an experienced nurse it is expected you will have extensive theoretical and practical knowledge and experience with the clinical skills required within one of our speciality areas.
Main duties of the job
As a staff nurse in the Gynaecology outpatients, you will support care provision within the department's treatment rooms, and responsible for the delivery of the highest standards of care and services.
Key Dutieso Undertake all activities in a professional and proficient manner, including mandatory operative checks prior to the start of the procedure,during and pre discharge of the patient.o Carry out duties according to policies and procedures, contributing to quality improvement, and promoting best evidence basedpractice.o Assemble, check, prepare, and coordinate the use of surgical equipment, drugs and consumables for a wide range of operativeprocedures.o Act in the circulating role within specialist clinicso Promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals.Skills &Experienceo Registered Nurse or Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.o Experience in in gynaecology, or operating theatre environment would be beneficial but not essential.o General skills with experience of applying clinical reasoning skills across a varied patient case mix.o Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and in sensitive and challenging situations.

At Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, you will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, developing specialist skills and buildingexpertise to assist the delivery of patient focused care, supporting the smooth running of a very busy and fast paced Gynaecology OutpatientsDepartment. Speciality areas include; Cancer, Operative Gynaecology, Colposcopy, EPAU, Fertility & Infertility, Menopause, Endocrine,Urogynaecology and General Gynaecology services.
In addition to this, we would expect this role to provide education andmentorship to other health professionals, and contribute to the development of nursing knowledge and evidence based practice.
We would encourage the person in this role to identify and progress in a specialist area of womens health and expect the post holder to be able towork cross site between Lewisham Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital if services required.
