Job summary
The purpose of this post is to provide extensive training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- To participate in on call rota as a JCF.
- To participate in audit and research.
- To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
- To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality health care for patients referred to theWomen's Health department for diagnosis and treatment.To participate in educational and audit meetings and meetCPD requirements.
To provide cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave.
To support the Hospital's Clinical Governance Strategy and to participate in clinical audit.
To provide prompt effective advice for General Practitioners if necessary.
To contribute towards the development of protocols within the hospital and in conjunction with the community services as necessary.
To participate in departmental meetings and activities.
To contribute to the development of the service.
To provide continuing training for Clinical staff as appropriate.

Job responsibilities
The Department of Womens Health Services provides a comprehensive Obstetricsand Gynaecology service rated Good by Care Quality Commissioners for local residents. In addition to the full range of general services there are also a number of established subspecialty activities in the fields of Fetal Medicine, Minimal Access Surgery, Gynaecological Endocrinology and Gynaecological Oncology.
The Department is fully committed to womens choice and autonomy, and midwifery management of normal pregnancy. There is currently a particularly skilled group of midwifery managers leading the process of change in midwifery practice. The obstetric practice is, however, generally high risk due to the nature of the local population, requiring significant medical involvement in a substantial proportion of pregnancies.
The Gynaecological services are very busy and well supported across the trust. All the major operating is conducted in Lewisham Hospital site while Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich mainly functions as Day case surgery. All theatres are well equipped with minimal access operating systems in newly refurbished operating theatres. The Gynaecological services has well established minimal access surgical team across the trust providing expertise in advanced laparoscopic surgeries
