Job summary
An exciting opportunity is available for the posts of Undergraduate Medical Education Fellow. These 5 posts will be focussed on developing the undergraduate education experience for medical students at LGT. Each post is a twelve month role aimed at those who wish to build on their personal teaching experience and develop expertise in educational theory and practice in a supervised environment.
Post holders will work cross site and educate both King's College London and University of Nicosia medical students. Each post will lead on either KCL students at UHL or KCL students at QEH or Nicosia students at UHL & QEH.
2 of the posts will concentrate on simulation training of both undergraduate students and foundation trainees.
Main duties of the job
Medical Education Fellow - 2 Posts - Covering KCL students. One post will be based at UHL and the other at QEH
Medical Education Fellow - 1 Post - Covering UNIC students. This post is based at QEH but will work cross site as needed.
Medical Education and Simulation Fellows - 2 posts - 1 post will be based at UHL and the other at QEH.
The funding for the Fellows posts at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) has been made available from the undergraduate education tariff. These posts will be focussed on developing the undergraduate education experience for medical students at LGT. Each post is a twelve month role aimed at those who wish to build on their personal teaching experience and develop expertise in educational theory and practice in a supervised environment.
The posts are designed to provide a wide range of educational experience for trainees who wish to make a commitment to education as part of their career. An enthusiasm for teaching is a prerequisite, but no assumptions will be made about formal knowledge of educational theory or practice. Hands-on teaching will be central to the post, as will a critical engagement with educational issues around providing undergraduate training in a changing context, both nationally and locally.

- Previous experience in medical education. Able to demonstrate personal and educational reasons for applying for this Fellowship programme and shows a commitment to continuing professional development.
