Job summary

Do you have a passion for fire safety in the public sector? if so, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Safety Manager to join our team to ensure all aspects fire safety are maintained at a high standard.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates team, the role reports to the Head of Fire Safety and is responsible for the delivery and technical expertise for the Trust compliance for Fire safety including advice for relevant Fire codes for Capital projects, LFB audits, Fire training and Fire risk assessments.

You will have a proven track record of providing NHS (or similar) Fire Safety Management as well as being an inspirational leader who takes pride in stakeholder engagement.

Main duties of the job

Accountable for the day-to-day management of fire safety throughout Lewisham Greenwich NHS Trust both acute sites and community and ensuring the Trust statutory requirements are met.

Assist the Head of Fire Safety to develop long term fire management plans, procurement strategies for the Trust that are ongoing and related to the 5-year development plans.

The post holder will manage and implement regular fire safety audits on an annual,18 & 24 month and 36-month basis and risk assessments for all departments, including all acute areas as well our Community buildings, live-in accommodation and office spaces.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Educated to Master's degree level or equivalent professional qualification relating to Fire Safety and or extensive experience in fire safety in a senior position
  • Understanding of Health and safety legislation and its application to a healthcare environment.

Desirable

  • Corporate membership of a Professional Organisation e.g. IOSH GIFireE MIFireE MIFSM IHEEM etc.
  • Specialist Member of the Institute of Risk & Safety Management (SIIRSM)
  • Recognised management qualification.
  • IT qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant operational experience of the workplace application of Fire Safety.
  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Working to timescales within budget
  • Experience of preparing and delivering training courses.

Desirable

  • Experience in healthcare specific Fire Safety.
  • Experience of healthcare engineering or estate management, or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of the principles of: Fire Safety Policy; Fire Risk Assessment; Fire legislation and Codes of Practice; Fire Safety Audits (including an ability to undertake them) Fire Safety installations; Fire Safety Management Systems.
