Job summary

Our JAG accredited department offers a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures ranging from Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, PEG insertion and ERCP and pH Manometry, Capsule Endoscopy .We also perform non GI procedures like Bronchoscopy, EBUS and Pleural Tap. The unit is open 08:00- 18:00 Monday - Saturday and we provide an Out of Hours on call service at weekends and Bank Holidays.

We are looking for enthusiastic, independent and committed nurses and support workers to join our highly motivated team. As part of your development, you will have the opportunity to participate in the following services:

    • Out of hours rota for Gastrointestinal bleed
    • Nurse Consent
    • Pre Assessment
    • pH Manometry and Capsule Endoscopy services

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work in the Endoscopy Unit assisting the doctors during various endoscopy procedures.

Be competent in using a computer.

Must be a qualified staff nurse where possible previous nursing experience.

Staff are responsible to participate in Trust performance appraisals scheme .

An exciting opportunity to work at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich, which is a JAG accredited Endoscopy unit.

We are looking for full-time band 5 staff nurse, with endoscopy experience or enthusciastic learn and to join our Endoscopy team at the QEH. You will be joining a well established and friendly team and will be given to opportunity to grow and develop as a nurse as a priority.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in the delivery of a patient-centred, clinically effective and dynamic service from the patient's admission, recovery to discharge.
  • Act as a role model for other staff.
  • Assist the clinicians in the endoscopy procedure rooms.
  • Contribute to the development of action plans, protocols and pathways to ensure continuous quality improvement of the service.
  • Using the knowledge skills framework progress personal and professional knowledge and skills.
  • Undertake the mentorship/supervisory role in support of learners.
